Hi, Brick. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy w/immediate reconstruction on November 25, 2011, and just completed the process. It wasn't easy going through the reconstruction and chemo at the same time, plus, throw in some physical therapy appointments for my arms following the initial surgery. Seems like I was always going to some kind of appointment. But perhaps it kept my mind in a whirl so I didn't dwell on things so much. Now, a year since my diagnosis, and I am finished with treatment. I well understand your decision to have the bi-lateral, to take your risk factor as low as possible, and put your mind at ease, if possible. Everyone is different and you may hear some opinions from some strong personalities that question your decisions along the way. You need to do what's best for you. I am glad your doctors are getting everything in line and I hope you continue to get the best possible care as you move forward.

I see you're local (I'm near Schenectady). My surgery (today) is at the South Clincial Campus of AMC. Is that where you go?

    Thanks for your kind thoughts.
