    Thank you. :)
I think I did some thing wrong. My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and I came here looking for some support.
I am a spouse but some times I care for him, did I come to the wrong place?
    Thank you.

    Hello ticklingcancer,
So very glad to see you're in remission...and I suspect it will be even better than that. I just wanted to tell you about my brother. He had testicular cancer when he was in his early 30's also. And for the last 25+ years he has been cancer free..Wishing you all the best on your journey.

Thanks for your response! ;) I've read your story, and like you I have MUCH to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, having been in remission for almost a year. Funny how I seem to be reverting to my old "take everything for granted" self now that I'm in remission. Guess it is only human nature, but I plan to do some reflecting this Thanksgiving and remember how I felt going through chemotherapy--"when I get through this I will let everyone know how much I LOVE them!! :)

Well, yeah, homemade! But I don't like crust, so I don't make it--and I use a heaping T of "pumpkin pie spice" as a shortcut as well. But oh, it's the best VEGETABLE! Especially with whipped cream, LOL.

Hey TC--Whazzup? Haven't heard anything from you, lately. Tuesday marks my 1/2 way point thru the worst of my chemo...and it's coming none too soon! Have been eating lots of veggies lately (pumpkin pie is a veggie, right?), at least celebrating that I don't have that funny metallic taste in my mouth yet. New port worked wonders last week and am also thankful for that! Hope you're doing well!

The drug is Cabozantinib (XL184). The trial is Phase II so no placebo, I get the real drug. It has shown some very good results on tumors of the bone (just what I have). You can Google it and see. Definitely, early stage and quite a way from approval. That's why I'm hoping for the home run.

Keep it positive and smile :)

So...did you end up scaring the poop out of your daughter and her friends this weekend?

I feel like the biggest fool here!!! Guess I should have read your great comments before messaging you! ......but I really thought that was your hair. What are your plans for Halloween chemo look?

Don't take this the wrong way, but is that your real hair? If so, it is really beautiful. What happened during chemo? Did it all fall out like mine did? Thanks, nancy

tc: I say, leave the surfer boy pix on! You look GREAT!

Your dressing up like a woman reminds me of when I was about 8 years old. My grandfather dressed up like a woman to attend a party--which was very confusing for me at that time! (Yeah, I would have grown up "normal" but for that one, horrifying incident!)

$26 raised? Jeeze--better than a poke in the eye with a dull stick!

Thanks for the kind words and all the support. May your every day be just a bit better than the last and may you achieve all that you wish. Each and everyone of you who do not "know" me, know me better than most as we share the fight against cancer. If you don't have it you don't know what it really is to have it.

    Bless you AND

Keep it positive and smile :)

TC: I should have some new pictures posted soon as well. For Tuesday's chemo, I plan to channel Joan Bon Jovi--complete with my platinum mullet and jean jacket. I also got another shipment of wigs yesterday--can't resist costume wigs for the fun of them--and now sport both a red and a green tinsel wig to be prepared for Xmas, Valentine's Day and St. Paddy's! You keep me laughing & I'm loving it--if I can bring a smile to anyone w/cancer, I will be the fool! :-^ )

Fight the good fight, or any fight worth fighting for that matter. Glad to see your still in remission. What I'd give for such a statement! I'm fighting this PC with all I have and appreciate your support. It was wonderful to have you call me friend, thanks.

Keep it positive and smile :)

I hope the microwave oven installation went well. They're a lot harder to use when you put them backwards.

Gosh, I took a quick look first and thought the pink was the collar of the shirt somehow! Maybe you could hold the shirt down a little bit more & it would look more obvious? (Or maybe this ol' girl should get her eyes checked?)

BTW, I read your whole journey and I totally sympathize with the trip...and am so glad you're doing better. You've been through an AWFUL lot! :-0

Thank you for your response to my posted question! All of the suggestions have been very helpful, and I'm sure that things will begin to balance out as time goes on. Best wishes to you! :)

Oh tc--I understand. I didn't mean to be disrespectful at all. Hope you didn't take it that way. I've never experienced anemia (must be my over-eating that the starches I eat turn into iron in me), but what you describe sounds horrible.

Thanks==I really DO believe in laughing many times every day...but I've only got 3 chemo treatments under my belt, and so far, it hasn't been too bad. I haven't tossed my cookies yet.

You KNOW you could've skipped the transfusions and just have eaten a steady diet of liver, right?

I see that it is super bright! Did it stain your skin?
    October 2012
  • Nancebeth
In response to your question about pink hair...if you check my blog (nancebeth.blogspot.com) you will see my pink hair and the product I used. I used Loreal Hi Color Hi Lites which is for darker hair. It doesn't stain the skin like Splatt does (or any of the other semi permanent dyes). Mix it with a 20 developer. For just your beard you won't need more than 1/3 of the package. I use half and I have super short hair now and I always have some left over.
If you lived near me, I'd tell you to swing by and I'd do it for you. Good Luck.
    I am going blue next!

Hi TC! Good to hear from you. We always want what we don't have, eh? I'm no hairdresser; my "expertise" is based on frosting my hair for um...the past 40 years or so...on my hair. I would think you'd have to take all of the color out of your beard before trying to put any pink back into it. To do that, I would probably bleach it as white-ish-blonde as possible. 5 minutes is NOT enough! (It hurts to be beautiful, sometimes, LOL.) I'd follow the timing instructions on the box and not wash it out until it turns an extremely light lemon color.

Then I'd use SPLATT pink and leave it on quite a while to make it pink. If your bleach out color is yellow instead of nearly white, it could turn your beard orange. ("...yellow and blue make green"...).

Or you could quit listening to someone you don't know who isn't a hairdresser and pay your local hair stylist about $30 to get it done, LOL. Funny you would ask me today--I am sitting here now sans Pink Mohawk (I asked for a "trim" but my husband got confused & shaved it all off!), trying to bleach the pink stains off of my head! Let me know your results! Ydnar2xer
